Step by step

Buyer journey

This is the complete buyer-side flow from account creation to quote shortlisting.

1

Create a free buyer account

Sign up as Buyer. Buyer accounts are free and cannot sell. A buyer can search products, post enquiries, and manage received quotes.

  • Use a valid business email.
  • Fill company, contact, country and password.
  • After login, the Buyer workspace becomes active.
2

Search by product or CAS number

Use product search to find the required chemical. Searching by CAS number is preferred because seller matching is based on CAS capability mapping.

  • Search examples: product name, exact CAS number, or known synonym.
  • The search result shows the number of matching sellers.
  • Category is intentionally hidden from the buyer search table to keep the flow focused.
3

Open Post Enquiry

Click Post Enquiry from a product row. The form locks the selected product and CAS number so the enquiry is tied to the correct chemistry.

  • Product name and CAS number are carried into the enquiry.
  • The page shows only sellers mapped to that CAS number.
  • If no sellers match the CAS number, the enquiry cannot be posted.
4

Select matching sellers

Select the sellers you want to invite. The limit is 5 sellers per enquiry.

  • Use the seller name, country and capability notes to decide.
  • The 5-seller limit prevents broad spam-style requests.
  • You cannot post an enquiry to your own seller listing.
5

Enter requirement details

Add enough information for sellers to quote accurately. This improves response quality and avoids unnecessary clarification.

  • Quantity and unit are required.
  • Required delivery timeline explains when material or response is needed.
  • Requirement notes should include purity, pack size, delivery location, required documents, and special instructions.
6

Submit the enquiry

After submission, CAS-Search creates an enquiry number beginning with ENQ. Seller notifications are queued for stable delivery through the mail spool.

  • The enquiry status starts as Open.
  • Selected sellers receive the opportunity from their Seller workspace.
  • Email delivery can be triggered by admin in controlled batches, typically every 15 minutes.
7

Track My Posted Enquiries

The buyer dashboard and My Posted Enquiries page show every open and closed enquiry.

  • Status is Open until a quote is shortlisted or the enquiry is closed.
  • Closing time displays the 48-hour window used for seller quoting.
  • You can view seller quote updates from the enquiry detail page.
8

Compare quotes and shortlist

When sellers quote, compare price, currency, availability and remarks. Shortlist the seller you want to proceed with.

  • Shortlisting marks the selected seller quote.
  • The enquiry is closed once a seller is shortlisted.
  • Shortlisted seller coordination can continue through the platform process.

Buyer best practices

Use exact CAS where possible

Exact CAS searches reduce irrelevant matches and help sellers understand the requirement quickly.

Write useful notes

Include purity, quantity, delivery city/country, documentation needs and target timeline.

Select sellers deliberately

Pick sellers whose country, product mapping or profile looks relevant. Avoid selecting all sellers by default.

Review quotes before shortlisting

Compare not only price, but also availability, lead time, pack size and seller remarks.
